CHURCHES TOGETHER IN MILL HILL

MAY 2019

CHURCHES TOGETHER IN NORTH LONDON is our Sponsoring Body

The object for Churches Together in Mill Hill is for its member churches to share together

in the ministry of Christ in the world through worship, mission and service

O God of earth and sky,
as Jesus came among us in Bethlehem to raise us up to heaven,
so today we recall his departing from us at Jerusalem to be in all places.
Though he is hidden from our sight,
enable us to abide in him
by the power and grace of the Holy Spirit,
until his mercy and grace fill your whole creation. Amen.

“OH! What a Lovely War”

World War I gets the musical treatment in a series of a song-and-dance vignettes. Throughout it follows the Smith family -- stand-ins for the British working class -- who initially view the war with sunny optimism. But after the Smith boys -- Jack (Malcolm McFee), Freddie , Harry (Maurice Roëves) and George (Paul Shelley) -- witness the reality of trench warfare, their illusions are shattered, and the best they can hope for is survival. . Features Dirk Bogarde, John Geigud, Laurence Olivier, Venessa Redgrave, Ralph Richardson, Maggie Smith, John Mills.

Future films   26 June “The Lion King”

The Good Neighbour Scheme faces yet another challenge in that it is possible that the transport currently provided by Barnet Community Transport will cease at the end of May. If it does, then approximately a third of the clients that attend the lunch clubs in Mill Hill and Burnt Oak will have to find alternative arrangements to get to the venues. If you are able to help by providing lifts to or from the halls (even once a month) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, then please contact the office 8906 3340 or e-mail good.neighbours@yahoo.co.uk.
